Dr. John S. Hutton is a pediatrician at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, author, and owner of the award-winning blue manatee children’s bookstore and decafé and affiliate e-commerce site, blue manatee boxes. He lives with his wife and 3 children in the suburban wilderness, where they are fond of planting things and gawking at butterflies, toads, and birds. As a child, he was known to play in his backyard for hours amidst mud, fireflies, and other analog kids (see archival photo below). As a grownup, Dr. John’s major clinical and advocacy interests are the effects of electronic media on young children, and reading and play as healthy alternatives.

Dr. John,
It is so encouraging to find someone else who is passionate about reading to+with children! You really understand the babies! Thank you for that!
Being a grandma (actually “Naana” x 4) gives me a unique “perspective” to the kid’s and grandkid’s responses when reading for them. I myself am in a process of having a book, drawn+written by myself, to be published by CreateSpace. It is called Kiddey Toons.
Kiddey Toons is for the next age group up from your audience. Hope to have it published this spring, yet. I would really like to have your feed back/comment when it is ready.
Having grown up in a different country and culture plus different era, the book also is different in flavor. Hopefully interesting +educational
for the 3-6 year olds + their adults.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
